Management System Services

Management Systems are the framework of processes and procedures used to ensure that an organization can fulfill all tasks required to achieve its objectives. For small or large companies, Occupational Health and Safety can be managed in the same way that the employer manages other facets of the organization’s activities (e.g. quality, production, environment, finances, customer service, etc). An Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) can help organizations reduce or prevent injuries, illnesses and fatalities in the workplace by providing a framework for corporate behaviour in OHS management. An OHSMS relies on commitment, leadership and worker participation to achieve its outcomes.

The organization will need to determine where it wants to be on the HSE Status Diagram. If the organization wishes to be "World Class" then they should be prepared for extensive Management System, monitoring and all of the required support systems. However, the organization may choose to just meet "Compliance" or "Due Diligence" (see the HSE Status Diagram below). Whatever the choice, there is a standard that then can be used to measure against and strive towards.

These management systems are similar to the ISO 9001-2008 (Quality) and ISO 14001-2004 (Environmental) which all include the basic elements including the ’Plan-Do-Check-Act’ approach to management. A business is only as strong as its weakest element. All facets of a business need to be functioning at the same level in order to be consistently efficient and effective. Inter-related management systems allow this to occur in an economical and business-like manner. The process of continuous improvement has proven to be an effective method to achieve success.

Audits - Standards, Compliance and Due Diligence
The general definition of an audit is an evaluation of a person, organization, system, process, enterprise, project or product. The term most commonly refers to audits in accounting, but similar concepts also exist in project management, quality management, environmental management and for occupational health & safety. Standards used will vary depending on regulatory issues, preferred standards or industry "best practices". An operations first audit will provide a Base Line of where the operation is measured against whatever standard is chosen by the organization.This will provide the organization with a report on all Gaps from the selected standard. Future audits measure the successes and slips from the standard and the organizations previous status.

Management System Revisions or Development
RGBE will assist in designing a customized or unique solution for superior sustainable results. RGBE will assist in integrating the OH&S Management System into other Management Systems that already are in place in the organization.

Management System Implementation
RGBE will provide assistance in the implementation of desired Elements of the Management System in a prioritized path. RGBE assist in keeping the organization on a path of continuous improvement.

> Safe Work Procedures (SWP)
- RGBE can assist with writing SWP or with training staff to be able to write effective SWP.
> Accident / Incident Investigations
- RGBE can lead or assist in incident investigations or train staff to efficiently investigate and follow through on these process to affect positive sustainable change.
> Inspections
- RGBE can assist with the development, implementation of, and operation of inspection processes or audit of safe work environments.
